Description
Torres produce Viña Sol in the D.O. Catalunya, a wine they first made in 1962 from a modest parcel of Parellada. The blend is Parellada with Garnacha Blanca. Parellada is the traditional and most delicate white variety of the Alt Penedès, its vines grown in the higher, cooler mountain sites where slow ripening protects the fresh, fruity aromatics and the acidity. The fruit is fermented in stainless steel tanks at low temperature, which locks in the primary fruit and keeps the wine crisp, and it is bottled in small, regular batches to stay fresh. The wine is organic and vegan. The colour is pale with green flecks, and the nose is youthful and bright, with green apple and pear alongside a floral, citrus lift and a hint of riper white peach. The palate is light bodied and dry, the fruit driven by a clean acidity that runs to a short, refreshing finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It is an easy aperitif and a reliable partner for salads, white fish and simple shellfish.
