Bodegas Torremorón makes this unoaked Ribera del Duero from Tinto Fino grown at around 800 metres, on vines between 30 and 60 years old. The high altitude and old vines give a structured young red full of ripe black fruit and liquorice.
Description
Torremorón Tinto Joven is a single-varietal Tinto Fino, the local name for Tempranillo, from Bodegas Torremorón in Ribera del Duero. Most of the vineyard sits on the north bank of the Duero at around 800 metres, one of the highest stretches of the appellation, where wide swings between warm days and cold nights extend the growing season and lock in colour, acidity and aromatic depth. The vines run between 30 and 60 years old, and their low yields concentrate the fruit. Cultivated by traditional methods and harvested by hand, the grapes give a wine made without oak ageing, which keeps the focus on pure varietal character and the firm structure that Tinto Fino brings even in a young, joven style. The colour is dense purple. The nose overflows with ripe blackberry and plum, with a hint of liquorice and crushed black pepper. The palate is full bodied and structured, with ripe but grippy tannins, fresh acidity and a dark-fruited finish. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees, decanted briefly to open it up. It is built for grilled and roast red meats.
