Torremorón Reserva is a Tinto Fino from D.O. Ribera del Duero, made from 40 to 60 year old vines around Quintanamanvirgo. A month long maceration and 24 months in French and American oak give a deep, structured red of dark fruit and spice.
Description
Torremorón Reserva is a red from the D.O. Ribera del Duero, made by Bodegas Torremorón entirely from Tinto Fino, the local Tempranillo. The fruit comes from old vineyards of forty to sixty years in and around the town of Quintanamanvirgo, on the high plateau of the Duero. The continental climate brings hot days and very cold nights, and that wide diurnal range, working on old vines, gives small, thick skinned berries with deep colour, firm tannin and good acidity. After alcoholic fermentation the must macerates for up to a month, a long contact with the skins that extracts colour, tannin and flavour for a Reserva built to age. The wine then spends twenty four months in new French and American oak, softening the tannins through slow oxidation and adding vanilla, toast and sweet spice, followed by further rest in bottle before release. It is deep cherry red with garnet at the rim, showing ripe dark plum and cherry over liquorice, oak spice, tobacco and a leathery, mature note. The palate is full bodied and structured, with ripe tannins and a long finish. Serve at seventeen to eighteen degrees and decant ahead. It pairs with roast red meat and game.
