An official Tormore single malt matured to 13 year old from 2012, drawn from cask 921178 and bottled at 53.1%. A release of 181 bottles. Tormore was built in the late 1950s near Grantown-on-Spey in Speyside; it is one of the most striking distilleries in Scotland. It was designed by Sir Albert Richardson, a President of the Royal Academy, in a grand ornamental style.

It was worked through swan neck stills with purifiers, for the light, clean, nutty make Tormore is known for. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. Around the mid teens the malt gains a fuller nutty depth over the citrus. The purifiers raise reflux, giving the clean, nutty spirit Tormore is known for. A workers' village was built nearby in the same striking style. Heat recovery condensers and sub coolers run alongside the purifier stills. The soft water runs through heather and peat and granite before reaching the distillery.

At a full 53.1% it is intense yet nutty. Apple, citrus and a soft almond meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. Green apple and almond draw out the close. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
