Description
A distillery bottling of Tormore, a 15 year old Speyside malt from 1998, drawn from cask Batch TM 15 001 and bottled at 57.4%. Tormore, completed in 1960 on the A95 in the heart of Speyside, is one of Scotland's most striking distilleries. The distillery is sometimes called the white cathedral of Speyside for its grand design.
Distilled in swan neck stills fitted with purifiers, on soft Achvochkie Burn water, giving the structured, nutty Speyside spirit. A refill American oak cask held it, keeping the clean character to the fore. Mid age brings a deeper honey and a riper, nuttier fruit. Sherry wood suits the light make, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. The distillery sits near Grantown-on-Spey, in sight of the Cromdale Hills. Tormore is cleaner than the waxy Clynelish, with more weight than the lightest Speysiders. The new owners released a Blueprint Series of 10 year olds in 2025 ahead of a full range.
At its natural 57.4% it is concentrated. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla, with pear, almond and a citrus lift. The texture is light and slightly oily, the nut threaded through. The finish is dry, nutty and structured. This is the malt of Speyside's white cathedral.
