A Tormore single malt, selected and bottled by Signatory Vintage matured to 9 year old from 2015 and bottled at 57.1%. Tormore was built in the late 1950s near Grantown-on-Spey in Speyside; it is one of the most striking distilleries in Scotland. Purifiers on the spirit stills keep the spirit light and clean.

It was worked through swan neck stills with purifiers, for the light, clean, nutty make Tormore is known for. A sherry butt held it, the wood lending raisin and walnut. At a youthful age the fruit is lively and the almond clear. The unpeated spirit lets the wood and the fruit speak without smoke. Elixir Distillers bought Tormore in 2022 and are reviving it as a single malt brand. Most of the spirit matures off site, much of it in refill ex-Bourbon wood. The distillery sits near Grantown-on-Spey, in sight of the Cromdale Hills.

At 57.1%, undiluted, it is deep and nutty. Sherried dried fruit and a nutty edge come through, and apple, citrus and a soft almond meet a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. Green apple and almond draw out the close. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
