The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd bottled this Tormore single malt, a 7 year old release from 2015, drawn from cask 9530 and bottled at 57.5%. Only 360 bottles were released. Tormore was opened in 1960 in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, and it is now owned by Elixir Distillers. The distillery is sometimes called the white cathedral of Speyside for its grand design.

Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. A Port cask gave a plum and red berry depth. At a youthful age the fruit is lively and the almond clear. The slow loss of the angel's share concentrates the nutty, citrussy core over time. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986. A workers' village was built nearby in the same striking style.

Undiluted at 57.5%, it is layered. The Port cask adds plum and red berry, and melon, nut and a grassy note sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. A dried fruit and a dry oak spice give it depth. The finish runs light, citrussy and fresh. This is Tormore's clean, nutty Speyside style.
