Single malt Tormore, an independent The Whisky Agency bottling matured to 25 year old from 1995 and bottled at 47.7%. Only 290 bottles were released. Tormore was completed in 1960 a mile south of the River Spey, and its single malt is being revived under new ownership. Purifiers on the spirit stills keep the spirit light and clean.

It was drawn off the distillery's swan neck stills with their purifiers, for a delicate, ester rich spirit. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the fruit. At this age it is rounded and nutty, the fruit folded into a honeyed, waxy body. A slightly oily texture carries the cask flavour over the clean spirit. Its rise in 1958 broke a long pause in distillery building that had lasted decades. The architect Sir Albert Richardson gave it a grand, ornamental design unlike any other distillery. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986.

At 47.7%, undiluted, it is deep and nutty. A gentle vanilla from the wood runs under green apple, nut and a soft spice. Beneath it run almond, apple and a soft spice. It finishes clean, fresh and nutty. This is a light, almond edged Speyside single malt.
