Description
Dràm Mòr bottled this Tormore single malt, a 10 year old release from 2015, drawn from cask 2100950 and bottled at 56.2%. A release of 276 bottles. Set in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, Tormore has distilled since 1960. The granite buildings carry copper roofs and a musical clock that plays four Scottish songs each quarter hour.
Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the nutty malt. Still young, the malt is light and nutty with a citrus lift. Refill oak lets the clean, nutty distillery character lead. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986. A workers' village was built nearby in the same striking style. Heat recovery condensers and sub coolers run alongside the purifier stills.
At a full 56.2% it is intense yet nutty. The Pedro Ximenez lends raisin, date and treacle, and melon, nut and a grassy note sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. It is clean and structured, the nutty spirit shining through. The close is clean, nut over orchard fruit. This is Tormore's clean, nutty Speyside style.
