Description
A Tormore single malt, selected and bottled by Hart Brothers, aged 10 year old from 2013 and bottled at 57.6%. First built between 1958 and 1960 in Speyside, near the Cairngorms, Tormore is a grand Speyside distillery. The distillery is sometimes called the white cathedral of Speyside for its grand design.
Distilled on soft Speyside water through purifier stills, building the firm, clean Tormore style. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the orchard fruit. Still young, the malt is light and nutty with a citrus lift. Refill oak lets the clean, nutty distillery character lead. Its granite buildings, copper roofs and musical clock earned it listed status in 1986. A workers' village was built nearby in the same striking style. Heat recovery condensers and sub coolers run alongside the purifier stills. The soft water runs through heather and peat and granite before reaching the distillery.
At 57.6%, undiluted, it is deep and nutty. Apple, citrus and a soft almond meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. Soft orchard fruit and nut sit behind the sweetness. It finishes clean, fresh and nutty. This is a clean, citrussy Speyside single malt.
