A Tobermory single malt, an independent Liquid Treasures bottling, aged 27 year old from 1995 and bottled at 46.4%. Tobermory, the unpeated malt of the Isle of Mull, comes from one of Scotland's oldest distilleries. The stills carry boil bulbs and an S shaped kink in the lyne arms, which raises reflux.

Made in the high reflux stills from unpeated barley, for a fruity, waxy make with a green lift. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, vanilla under the orchard fruit. Long ageing brings a deeper waxy, fruity character and a mellow oak. Sherry wood suits the oily make, lending dried fruit and a nutty depth. In dry summers the distillery has paused when its hill loch ran low. The distillery sits at the head of the bay, beneath a steep wooded hill. Both malts feed the Scottish Leader and Black Bottle blends as well as single malt. The distillery was refurbished and its stills renewed between 2017 and 2019.

At 46.4% it is clean and full. Pear, oily malt and a green note, and honeyed vanilla comes through from the ex-Bourbon. A green note and a gentle spice give it depth. Wax and ripe fruit see out a long finish. This is the fruity side of the Isle of Mull's distillery.
