Meadowside Blending bottled this Tobermory, a 20 year old from 1995, drawn from cask 11 and bottled at 49.2%. Just 462 bottles were filled. Tobermory is the fruity, unpeated side of the only distillery on the Isle of Mull. It is one of Scotland's oldest distilleries, and the only one on its island.

It was made in the high reflux stills from unpeated barley, for a fruity, waxy make with a green lift. Maturation in sherry laid dried fruit over the fruit. Beyond twenty years the malt grows deep and waxy, honey, dried fruit and nut over old oak. A waxy texture carries the cask flavour across long years. In dry summers the distillery has paused when its hill loch ran low. The distillery sits at the head of the bay, beneath a steep wooded hill. Both malts feed the Scottish Leader and Black Bottle blends as well as single malt. The distillery was refurbished and its stills renewed between 2017 and 2019.

Undiluted at 49.2%, it is powerful. Pear, oily malt and a green note, and the Oloroso lends raisin, walnut and a dried fruit richness. Soft orchard fruit and wax sit behind the cask. The finish runs fruity, nutty and warm. This is the fruity side of the Isle of Mull's distillery.
