Description
The Tiroler Kräuterdestillerie Tiroler Zirben Likör is an Austrian speciality from the Tyrol herb distillery, a house long known for brandies, liqueurs and herbal specialities and committed to regional raw materials and traditional methods. It is made from the cones of the Swiss stone pine, the tree often called the Queen of the Alps, which grows in the Tyrolean Alps. The cones are gently processed and macerated to draw out the resinous pine character, and the liqueur is bottled at a moderate 35% ABV.
The nose is intensely resinous with fresh wood, herbs and a spicy sweetness, the palate full bodied and strong with the typical stone pine aroma, subtle resin and a balanced sweetness, and the finish spicy, long and warming. A backing of pine, mint, anise and wormwood frames the wood note. On a back bar it contributes piney aromatic lift, body and a gentle sweetness, working as a digestif slightly chilled or at room temperature, a distinctive ingredient in stirred and Alpine themed cocktails, and an aromatic addition to hot drinks. It is well suited after a savoury meal.
