A pot still cachaca from Brazil’s Tijuca, made from fresh pressed cane juice and finished in port wine wood, spicy and warming with cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon and tropical fruit, like liquid cinnamon rolls without the sugar at 40%.
Description
Tijuca Brazilian Blended Rum is a Brazilian cachaca, distinct from rum proper: made from fresh pressed, fermented sugar cane juice rather than molasses, and protected as a Brazil only category. Distilled on a pot still and finished in port wine casks, it carries no age statement and sits at a sociable 40%.
Cachaca is capped at very low added sugar, so this drinks genuinely dry despite its rich impression: cocoa, vanilla, cinnamon and wood on the nose, then tropical fruit, chocolate, spice and wood on the palate, closing on fruitcake, more wood, cinnamon and spice. The port finish lends a warming, spiced character that drinkers liken to liquid cinnamon rolls without the sweetness, with good spice and restrained oak letting the cane base show through. A characterful, dry sipping cachaca for anyone curious about Brazil's signature spirit and how it takes to wine cask ageing.
