Description
Azienda Tiberio is run by Cristiana Tiberio in Abruzzo, central Italy, where she farms organically and brings a precise, science-led approach to the cellar. Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo is the region's traditional deep rosé, made from Montepulciano, the same dark, structured grape behind the local reds. The name comes from cerasa, meaning cherry, and the wine is built around colour and red fruit rather than the pale Provence model. The vineyards sit inland at altitude between the Apennines and the Adriatic, where cool nights and warm days hold acidity while ripening the fruit fully. Cerasuolo is made by short maceration on Montepulciano skins, long enough to extract a vivid ruby colour, real red fruit depth and a touch of tannin before pressing off. Fermentation stays cool to keep the aromatics fresh and the wine dry. Expect a bright transparent ruby, a nose of red cherry, wild strawberry and plum with rose petal, citrus peel and a savoury, peppery herbal lift. The palate is dry and full for a rosé, with grip and a saline finish that follows from the altitude and the skins. Serve at 10 to 12 degrees.
