Celler Tianna Negre make this Mallorcan white from Sauvignon Blanc with the local Giró Blanc and Premsal. Given four months in French oak, it is fresh and aromatic, with lemon, green apple and elderflower over a herbal, Mediterranean lift.
Description
Celler Tianna Negre is a family project in Binissalem on Mallorca, built by the Morey-Garau family with Bodegas Túnel and opened in 2007. Bocchoris Blanc blends Sauvignon Blanc with the native Giró Blanc and Premsal Blanc, marrying an aromatic international grape with the island's own varieties. The Mediterranean climate brings warm days tempered by sea breezes and cooler nights, which help hold acidity and aromatic freshness, while Premsal adds citrus drive and Giró Blanc lends texture and body. The wine spends four months in French oak, a short ageing that softens the wine and adds a little breadth without covering the fruit, so the Sauvignon character stays clear. The colour is pale lemon with a green tint. The nose is bright and herbal, with lemon, green apple and elderflower over white flowers and a note of garrigue thyme. The palate is fresh and dry, its citrus and orchard fruit carried by crisp acidity and a clean, faintly herbal finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees. It works with white fish, shellfish and salads.
