Description
Champagne Thiénot is one of the region's younger houses, and this Brut Rosé reflects its lighter, fruit-forward style. The cuvée is roughly half Chardonnay for freshness and finesse, with Pinot Noir adding structure and Meunier bringing a rounder, fruity centre. Like all Champagne it is made by the traditional method, with a second fermentation in bottle and time on the lees that adds a soft biscuit tone beneath the fruit. The dosage is modest, keeping the wine dry and balanced.
The colour is a delicate pale rosé with a lively perlage. The nose leads with sour cherry, raspberry and blackcurrant, with a floral hint of violet and rose. On the palate it is fresh and harmonious, the red fruit carried by fine bubbles to a long, fruity finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass. It works as an aperitif and alongside salmon, tuna tartare or lighter poultry, and has the fruit to match a bowl of summer berries.
