Description
The Wild Parrot Hampden Blackjack Series 2013 is a single cask of Hampden, Trelawny's reference high-ester distillery, bottled at ten years and a hefty 67.9% cask strength. From the Blackjack series, it shows the estate's intensity through a darker, oak-and-roast lens while keeping the classic Hampden fruit underneath.
Distilled on Hampden's double-retort pot stills from molasses and matured in ex-bourbon oak, it leads with roasted, smoky wood and ripe fruit on the nose, banana, caramel and cinnamon filling in around it. The palate is oily and fresh with wood and roast, the high proof driving everything, leading into a warm, savoury finish. Bottled unsweetened, this is a powerful, full-bodied Hampden single cask that leans on weight and roast as much as ester, built for drinkers who want the estate at maximum strength.
