Description
The Story of the Spaniard The Signature Range CB (Compass Box) is a blended malt Scotch from Compass Box, the London blending house. It vats single malts with Glen Moray among them. Its light, fresh spirit suits a wide range of cask finishes, from sherry to rum.
Glen Moray lends a light, clean, fruity Speyside note to the whisky. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, the oak quiet behind the light spirit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the light Speyside spirit. A gentle maturation suits the light make, the orchard fruit growing richer with time. Glen Moray has long made an accessible, fruity Speyside in the classic style. The clean, fruity spirit shows the cask clearly, vanilla and fruit to the fore. It is known for excellent value, with age statements priced more keenly than most.
At an approachable 43% it is light and easy. Green apple, vanilla and a soft honey run through it, light and fresh. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. A long, fruity finish carries a green apple and a soft spice. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
