Description
The Story of the Spaniard The Signature Range CB (Compass Box) is a blended malt Scotch from Compass Box, a vatting of single malts. Blenders such as this use Teaninich for the structure and freshness it brings. Speyside and Highland malts give the vatting its body.
A blended malt marries single malts from more than one distillery to a house style. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the grassy malt. The malts are vatted and married to a balanced whole, then bottled. A green, oily profile runs through the whole. Blenders use Teaninich for the freshness and structure it brings. A blended malt marries single malts from more than one distillery. Highland malts lend a clean, grassy thread to the vatting. The maker selects malts for the balance each brings. A period of marrying lets the whiskies settle together. The result is a fresh, characterful Scotch. Compass Box often reaches for Teaninich to give its blends structure.
At an approachable 43% it is light and balanced. Green fruit, honey and a soft spice run through it, with a clean, oily depth. The mouthfeel is waxy, the citrus carried on a grassy body. A long, oily finish carries a green lift. A characterful blended malt Scotch.
