A bourbon-forward Foursquare from 2007 at thirteen years and 50%, full of vanilla, oak, chocolate and citrus with a warm, roasted finish, unsweetened and smooth once it has had time to open in the glass.
Description
Bottled by The Nectar for its Of The Daily Drams line, this is a 2007 Foursquare, the dry, additive-free Barbados rum from Richard Seale's St Philip distillery, where double-retort pot still is blended with twin-column Coffey rum. At thirteen years and a sociable 50%, it leans openly into its ex-bourbon ageing.
The molasses spirit shows vanilla, bourbon, citrus and oak on the nose, then vanilla, chocolate and roasted notes on the palate, with a warm, oaky, roasted finish. The 50% can read a touch sharp at first, so a rest of fifteen minutes in the glass helps it settle into a smoother, more harmonious pour. Unsweetened and classically Bajan, it is a dependable, value-minded Foursquare for drinkers who like the bourbon-cask side of the house style.
