Description
Mars Komagatake is the single malt expression of Mars Shinshu, owned by Hombo Shuzo and sited in the Central Alps at Miyada, Nagano. This 2019 European market release is a NAS bottling at 48%, drawn from Ex-Bourbon maturation and presented at cask strength without a disclosed cask breakdown beyond the bourbon-type maturation.
The flavour profile of fresh fruit, vanilla, citrus, cooked fruit, honey and a faint smokiness reflects Mars Shinshu's clean, high-altitude distillate as it develops in Ex-Bourbon wood. The smoke note, a minor presence here, is not characteristic of the distillery's standard production and likely reflects a trace element from the cask or the vatting.
