Description
Mars Shinshu, situated in Nagano's Central Alps at Miyada and owned by Hombo Shuzo, produced this single cask single malt from its 2016 vintage. Cask number 3202 spent six years in a bourbon barrel before being bottled at cask strength at 62% as a Netherlands-market release by the distillery.
The bourbon cask at six years delivers the vanilla, caramel and light wood spice typical of Mars Shinshu's house style, where the high altitude and cool mountain climate slow maturation slightly and preserve the distillate's natural clarity. The single cask format and cask strength bottling present the spirit without mediation, making this a direct expression of the 2016 vintage from one barrel.
