The Macallan Colour Collection 15 Years Old was introduced in 2023 as part of The Macallan’s new Colour Collection, a series that focuses on natural color and maturation. This collection is exclusive to travel retail and features five expressions: 12, 15, 18, 21, and 30 years old. This expression is primarily aged in American oak casks, with a touch of European oak added to deepen its complexity. The 15-year-old whisky displays a rich beech hue, darker than the 12-year-old in the same collection, highlighting its deeper maturation.

The nose is bright tropical fruits, including pineapple, with notes of vanilla and light coconut. The palate is richer and more viscous than the 12-year-old, offering honey, cocoa, apricots, and butterscotch. David Carson’s design for The Macallan Colour Collection breaks traditional design grids by using fragmented typography and sliced, layered imagery. This approach creates a dynamic and unconventional composition that reflects movement and spontaneity. The abstract, wave-like forms and warm color palette are inspired by the orchards and landscape of Jerez de la Frontera, Spain, where the whisky’s sherry casks are sourced. Carson’s design style mirrors the natural, evolving whisky maturation process by rejecting rigid layouts in favor of fluidity and emotion.
