Description
The Lost Explorer Tequila Blanco is a 100 percent Blue Weber tequila grown in the volcanic soils of Jalisco and built by the brand alongside maestro tequilero Enrique de Colsa, who spent close to two decades shaping Don Julio before this project. As an unaged blanco it shows the agave and the distillery hand without any barrel to hide behind, and the choice of champagne yeast for fermentation gives the spirit a lifted, slightly floral character.
Steam cooking the agave hearts keeps the profile clean and free of smoke, since tequila is oven cooked rather than pit roasted. The nose carries fresh agave herbs, a touch of citrus and pineapple, with subtle butter and cinnamon, while the palate is full and balanced with lively mineral undertones and notes of prickly pear, black pepper and ancho chilli. The finish runs long and gently spiced, bottled at 40 percent.
