The Lost Distilleries Blend Batch 5 (The Blended Whisky Company) is a blended malt Scotch from The Blended Whisky Company. It vats malts from several distilleries, with rare Caperdonich in the mix. Water came from the Caperdonich Burn, the so called secret well above Rothes.

The lost Caperdonich adds a pear and cream note to the whole. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, vanilla and a light sweetness under the fruit. Long ageing turns the fresh pear towards mango, beeswax and a polished oak. The cool Speyside air gave a slow, even maturation in the Rothes warehouses. Its four stills were dispersed, a pair going as far as Belgium and others to Falkirk. Chivas released a Secret Speyside range of official Caperdonich in 2019, aged eighteen to thirty years. Ethyl esters built over the years lend the pear and tropical fruit of old Caperdonich.

Bottled at a cask strength 50.4%, it is rich. Soft pear, cream and dried fruit run through it, with a waxy, fruity depth. A baked pear and a soft spice lift it. The close is long, fruit over a gentle oak. A characterful blended malt Scotch drawing on a vanished distillery.
