Description
The Little Distiller Ultimatum Rum Tawny Port Cask Finish 2017 is a Jamaican pot still rum from the 2017 vintage, aged four and a half years and finished in tawny port casks before bottling at 47.8%. Pot still distillation puts the fruity ester character of Jamaica front and centre, so expect ripe banana, pineapple and a solvent edge typical of the island.
The tawny port finish layers dried red fruit, raisin and a touch of nutty sweetness over that pot still core, while the unsweetened bottling keeps the spirit honest and dry. At 47.8% it has the weight to carry both the wine-cask influence and the rum's tropical funk, a youthful but characterful pour.
