A young four year aged rum from independent bottler The Liquor Company, this Cuate Anejo Reserva is soft and fruity at 38.7%, dried fruit, honey and banana over light oak, gently sweet and easygoing.
Description
Cuate Anejo Reserva is bottled by The Liquor Company from molasses distillate aged four years in ex-bourbon oak. It is an entry level, lightly built rum carried at a low 38.7%, presented without added sugar but soft and rounded enough to drink easily on its own.
The nose leans on dried fruit, ripe fruitiness, honey and a touch of wood, while the palate is sweet, light and fruity with a faint ester note and a short honeyed finish. Some tasters find it a little one-dimensional and slightly watery at this strength, with mild warmth and a hint of malt. It is an undemanding everyday pour, fruity and approachable, best for relaxed sipping rather than for those seeking depth or power.
