A distillery bottling of Lindores Abbey, aged 3 year old from 2019, drawn from cask 198377 and bottled at 59.4%. A release of 258 bottles. Lindores Abbey, in Fife, is widely called the spiritual home of Scotch whisky, the place named in the 1494 record of Friar John Cor. The whisky writer Michael Jackson called Lindores a pilgrimage, and the abbey is widely held to be the spiritual home of Scotch.

It was drawn off the distillery's copper stills, for a full, fruity make ready for active wood. A fortified or wine cask shaped it, the fruit meeting the young spirit. Active first fill wood pulls colour and flavour quickly into the young Lindores spirit. Lindores also makes Aqua Vitae, a botanical spirit after the medieval water of life. The whisky is bottled on site at Newburgh to keep transport low. A young distillery, it leans on active casks to bring its whisky to life quickly. The house style is layered and fruity, richer than a typical light Lowland.

At a natural 59.4% it is bold and full. The Rum cask brings brown sugar and a tropical lift. The texture is full and layered, the fruit lifted by oak. A long, fruity finish carries a chocolate note. This is a young Lowland malt from where Scotch began.
