A distillery bottling of Lindores Abbey matured to 4 year old from 2018, drawn from cask 2018/0588 and bottled at 57.4%. Just 670 bottles were filled. Lindores Abbey Distillery, in Fife, stands on the ground named in Scotch whisky's founding document, the 1494 Exchequer Rolls. The whisky writer Michael Jackson called Lindores a pilgrimage, and the abbey is widely held to be the spiritual home of Scotch.

Distilled from local barley in copper stills on borehole water, giving the orchard fruit and butterscotch of the house style. Maturation in a sherry cask laid dried fruit over the fruit. The layered, fruity make takes a wide range of casks well. The whisky is bottled on site at Newburgh to keep transport low. A young distillery, it leans on active casks to bring its whisky to life quickly. The house style is layered and fruity, richer than a typical light Lowland.

At a natural 57.4% it is bold and full. The Oloroso brings dried fruit, fig and a nutty depth, and the Port cask adds plum and red berry. The texture is full and layered, the fruit lifted by oak. The finish is bright, spiced and warming. This is a young Lowland malt from where Scotch began.
