Description
The Kurayoshi Pure Malt Whisky, bottled in 2016 for the European market by Matsui Shuzo of Tottori prefecture, is a no age statement blended malt at 43%. As one of the range's earliest European releases, this 2016 bottling helped establish the Kurayoshi name internationally. Matsui Shuzo's Kurayoshi range has drawn on sourced malt alongside house-produced spirit, and early releases in particular reflect that history.
Ex-Bourbon cask maturation shapes the character here, delivering vanilla and light dried fruit on the nose with a clean cereal sweetness through the palate. The no age statement means there is no specific commitment on maturation depth, and the profile is straightforward and consistent. The finish is relatively clean and brief, with gentle woodspice warmth. A widely available and recognisable NAS blended malt from Tottori, representing the Kurayoshi range in its most accessible and broadly marketed form.
