The Glover 6 Years Old AD (Adelphi)

The Glover is Adelphi's signature blended malt series, named for Thomas Blake Glover, the Scottish merchant who played a formative role in the industrialisation of Meiji Japan. The series unites Chichibu malt from Saitama, Japan and Ardnamurchan malt from the remote Scottish Highlands, bridging two independent distilling traditions in a single vatting. Both distilleries were founded in relatively recent years and represent a new wave of small-batch production on their respective sides of the world.

This 6 Years Old expression was bottled in 2023 at 57.6% cask strength from Ex-Bourbon casks. The flavour profile is notably fragrant and layered: citrus and fresh fruit give brightness, cooked fruit and hay-like cereal notes add depth, and a greenhouse-green, almost verdant quality runs through the whole. The cask strength bottling delivers the full character of both contributing malts without dilution.
