Description
This official 1770 Glasgow single malt, a 5 year old from 2018, drawn from cask 18/965 - 18/967 and bottled at 52%. 1576 bottles in all. The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012 and revived single malt distilling in Glasgow after more than a century. Makar Gin came first, in 2014, and helped fund the return of whisky to the city.
The spirit was worked through copper pot stills for a clean, fruity spirit, for the fresh, fruity make at the heart of the 1770 style. A wine cask shaped it, the fruit meeting the young spirit. Bottled without chill filtration, the texture stays full and the cask speaks clearly. The make is bright and fruity, a modern, metropolitan take on Lowland malt. Production has grown year on year as demand for Glasgow malt has risen. The Glasgow Distillery Company was founded in 2012, the first malt distillery in Glasgow in over a century.
At a full 52% it is bold and fruity. Green apple and a creamy malt lead, and the Cognac brings grape and a vinous, dried fruit note. It is bright and full, the young spirit shining through. The finish runs fresh, lively and clean. This is a young, fruity Glasgow single malt.
