An official Glasgow Distillery single malt matured to 8 year old from 2017, drawn from cask 17/264, /269, /272, /674, /676, /699 and bottled at 54%. A release of 1400 bottles. The Glasgow Distillery Company opened in Hillington in 2012, the first malt distillery in Glasgow since 1902. The first malt casks were filled in 2015, and the first single malt was released in 2018.

Made in copper stills for the fresh, fruity house make, for a fruity, vibrant make. A bourbon cask held it, keeping the fruit to the fore. Short, warm maturation in active casks defines the young Glasgow style. Its 1770 name recalls the old Glasgow Distillery at Dundashill, founded in 1770 and closed in 1902. Makar Gin came first, in 2014, and helped fund the return of whisky to the city. The first single malt casks were filled in 2015, the first whisky released in 2018. The distillery is known for an adventurous cask policy, from Cognac and Marsala to Port and Tequila.

At a natural 54% it is bold and full. Pear, vanilla and a citrus lift lead, and the ex-Bourbon lends vanilla, honey and a soft apple. A vanilla and a gentle spice give it depth. A fruity, gently spiced finish lingers. This is the 1770 single malt of Glasgow.
