A dry Antigua single cask bottled at nine years and 59% by Danish house 1423 under their S.B.S line, full proof and unsweetened, leaning on vanilla, caramel and citrus over roasted, drying oak with a bourbon cask accent and a spicy finish.
Description
This S.B.S 2015 is a single cask Antigua rum selected by 1423 World Class Spirits, distilled at the Antigua Distillery on a column still in 2015 and aged nine years in an ex-bourbon cask. Bottled at a full 59% in the house Single Barrel Selection tradition, it is cask strength, unsweetened and made for drinkers who like a dry, bourbon influenced profile.
The ex-bourbon cask shows clearly, with vanilla, caramel and citrus over woody, roasted notes and a bourbon like accent, and the palate carries the same wood and vanilla before a medium long, drying, slightly spicy finish. Without added sugar it stays firm and oak led rather than rounded, and at 59% it has real grip. It is a sipper aimed at experienced palates who enjoy dry, high proof rum in the bourbon cask mould, lining up naturally alongside drier Foursquare style bottlings.
