A ten year Antiguan rum from English Harbour, unsweetened and bourbon barrel aged, showing vanilla, caramel, dried fruit and tobacco over a dry, oak driven body, an honest, easy sipping pour under modest strength at 40%.
Description
The Distillery English Harbour Reserve 10 Years is the aged flagship from the Antigua Distillery, made from molasses on a column still and matured for a decade in charred American oak ex bourbon barrels. Unsweetened and bottled at 40 percent, it is a light, dry, oak driven rum that offers genuine age without a heavy price, a solid choice for drinkers building their palate. The molasses is sourced from the Dominican Republic and Guyana before distillation on the island.
With no added sugar, the focus falls on the wood and the distillate, giving vanilla, caramel, tobacco, dried fruit and spice over a dry body. There is a faint sour, almost cognac like note some drinkers pick up alongside the oak, and a touch of bitterness on the finish. The modest strength keeps it gentle and easy, suiting relaxed sipping or pairing with a cigar. As an honest, unsweetened ten year old, it offers oak, vanilla and light fruit without overwhelming the palate.
