Description
The Bitter Truth Apricot Liqueur is a fruit liqueur from The Bitter Truth, a German maker of bitters and liqueurs for the bar trade, bottled at 22%. It combines apricot juice and apricot brandy, both made from the same fruit, with a small amount of sugar, giving a balanced liqueur with the intense fruitiness of sun ripened apricots. Using both the juice and a distillate of the fruit keeps the character close to the apricot itself rather than to a generic sweet syrup.
The nose is intensely fruity with ripe apricots and a hint of almond. The palate is sweet, creamy and round with dried apricot, fine caramel and a touch of biscuit, the finish fruity, soft and long with a warm apricot flavour. Behind the bar it brings natural stone fruit fruitiness, depth and a rounded sweetness that balances acidity in a sour or fills out a sparkling drink. It is a natural in a Bellini, an Apricot Sour and champagne cocktails as an aperitif, and works neat over ice to show its full sweetness. The kernel like almond note adds complexity to fruit forward builds. Serve chilled.
