Description
The brothers Aristos and Stathis of Tetramythos set out to rescue Roditis, a native Peloponnese grape too often linked with cheap, bland wine, and this bottling shows what it can do when farmed well. The vineyards sit in the cool, high hills above Patras, where altitude and marked day to night temperature swings hold the grape's naturally high acidity and give the wine its tension. Farming is organic and the wine is made naturally, with six months of ageing in stainless steel tanks, a reductive vessel that keeps the fruit primary and the style crisp and fresh rather than developed. There is no oak and no skin contact, so the wine reads as pure varietal Roditis, light and mineral, with only the tank rest to give it shape. It pours pale lemon. The nose is lemon, green apple and white peach with a floral top note. The palate is light and dry, orchard and citrus fruit on a taut, stony line, closing clean and saline. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
