Description
Terras Gauda is made in the O Rosal subzone of Rias Baixas, on the right bank of the lower Mino in Galicia, from a blend of Albariño with the local Caino Blanco and Loureira. O Rosal gets more sunshine than anywhere else in the region, and its soils of slate and schist give wines with a softer acidity and a broad aromatic range; the local grapes add florality and structure that a straight Albariño lacks. Fermentation is in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and the profile clean, holding the aromatics the blend is grown for. It shows a bright, luminous colour and a nose of peach, melon and lemon with orange blossom, citrus peel and a saline memory. The palate is juicy and expressive, the fruit carried by a fresh acidity and a coastal salinity into a clean finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a standard white glass, ideally a slightly larger bowl to open the aromatic blend. Made for shellfish and fresh fish, and flexible with lighter dishes.
