Description
Tenuta Meraviglia sits on the closest vineyards to the sea in the Bolgheri appellation, part of the Bulgheroni family group on the Tuscan coast. The maritime position is central to the wine: constant sea breezes cool the vines and extend ripening, while the salt-laden coastal air gives Vermentino its saline, herbal character. The volcanic and clay soils of the site add a stony, mineral base. The wine is organically farmed and aged three months on its lees in concrete, a neutral vessel that preserves freshness while the lees add a light creamy texture and roundness without any oak influence. The colour is pale straw with green tints. The nose shows lemon, green apple and white peach over white flowers and a wild thyme note, and the palate is crisp and dry, driven by bright acidity and a marked saline, coastal freshness into a clean finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
