Description
Tenuta Le Colonne lies among the vineyards closest to the Tyrrhenian Sea in Bolgheri, part of Alejandro Bulgheroni's Tuscan holdings. The proximity to the water shapes the wine: steady sea breezes moderate the coastal heat and lengthen ripening, and the maritime air gives Vermentino its saline freshness and clean cut. This is the pure, unoaked expression, aged three months in stainless steel to preserve primary fruit and acidity, with no wood to soften the profile. That reductive, temperature-controlled handling keeps the wine bright, straw-yellow with silver highlights, and holds its aromatics. The nose shows lemon, green apple and white peach over white flowers, and the palate is dry and crisp, driven by fresh acidity and a saline, stony freshness that runs into a clean, mineral finish. It is a straightforward, food-friendly coastal white in a Mediterranean style. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass.
