Tears of Llorona Extra Añejo Tequila

Tears of Llorona is an extra anejo tequila from master distiller German Gonzalez, produced at La Tequilena, NOM 1146, in Atotonilco el Alto, the same Los Altos house behind Fuenteseca, Don Fulano and several ArteNOM releases. It is a 100% Blue Weber spirit and an unapologetically barrel driven one, shaped by a personal blend of casks rather than by any additive.

The extended maturation across Scotch, sherry and brandy casks pulls the spirit deep amber with copper reflections and pushes oak to the lead. The nose layers agave with vanilla, caramel, chocolate, cherry, fruit and a whisky-like leather note, while the palate carries agave, oak, vanilla, caramel, a hint of smoke from the wood, cinnamon, pepper, honey and butterscotch. Bottled at 43%, it is dense and cask shaped, with the agave receding behind years of barrel weight.
