Description
From That Boutique-y Whisky Company comes this Teaninich, a 12 year old Highland malt and bottled at 59.1%. Only 421 bottles were released. Teaninich, a large Highland distillery beside the River Averon at Alness, was established in 1817. It stands near Dalmore and Glenmorangie in the Cromarty Firth country.
Mashed through a mash filter for an ultra clear wort and distilled in fat copper stills, giving the fresh, green spirit at its heart. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the grassy spirit. Mid age brings a deeper honey and a riper green fruit. Most Teaninich is filled into refill ex-Bourbon, letting the make show through. Teaninich Castle nearby, once the family seat, is now a hotel and restaurant. Robert Innes Cameron, an Elgin blender, became sole owner in 1904. The Munro family ran the distillery through two generations before selling. The Cromarty Firth nearby is one of few UK waters home to bottlenose dolphins.
At a full 59.1% it is intense yet fresh. The refill oak lending honey and vanilla runs under green apple, grass and a light honey. It is fresh and clean, the green spirit shining through. Cut grass and citrus draw out the close. This is a fresh, waxy Highland single malt.
