This Teaninich was an independent That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottling, aged 11 year old and bottled at 47.9%. The outturn was 1987 bottles. Set at Alness in Easter Ross, Teaninich has distilled since 1817. In 1887 it became the first distillery north of Inverness with electricity and a telephone.

It was worked through the distillery's stills from a very clear wort, for the light, grassy, oily make Teaninich is known for. An ex-Bourbon barrel shaped it, gentle American oak beneath the green fruit. At this age the spirit is fresh and green, cut grass and citrus to the fore. The penetrating, fresh acidity of the spirit keeps it lively with age. Almost all of its make is destined for blends rather than single malt. A hammer mill and mash filter, installed in 2000, replaced the traditional mash tun. That ultra clear wort is the source of Teaninich's fragrant, green tea grassiness.

At cask strength 47.9% it is muscular yet green. A grassy, waxy freshness sit alongside a quiet vanilla from the refill oak. The texture is light and oily, the grass threaded with honey. The finish is waxy, green and lively. This is the green tea malt of Easter Ross.
