This is a Teaninich single malt, an independent Douglas Laing bottling matured to 30 year old from 1982, drawn from cask DL 9900 and bottled at 49.3%. Only 198 bottles were released. Teaninich, built in 1817 near the Cromarty Firth at Alness, is a key malt of Johnnie Walker. Fat copper stills add an oily texture to the clean, grassy spirit.

Distilled on Highland spring water through fat copper stills, building the light Highland style blenders prize. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. At this age it is rounded and oily, the grass folded into a honeyed, waxy body. A clean wort and a long ferment build the fragrant, green tea note. That ultra clear wort is the source of Teaninich's fragrant, green tea grassiness. Teaninich Castle nearby, once the family seat, is now a hotel and restaurant. Robert Innes Cameron, an Elgin blender, became sole owner in 1904.

At its natural 49.3% it is concentrated. A grassy, waxy freshness sit alongside honeyed oak sweetness underneath. It is fresh and oily, the fruit and oak well matched. The finish is waxy, green and lively. This is the green tea malt of Easter Ross.
