Bottled by Archives, this Teaninich, a 20 year old from 1999, drawn from cask 307938 and bottled at 55.7%. Just 248 bottles were filled. Teaninich was founded in 1817 by Captain Hugh Munro in the northern Highlands at Alness, and it sends almost all of its make to blends. It was founded by Blind Captain Hugh Munro, a Napoleonic veteran, on his Teaninich estate.

The spirit was run from a clear wort through the distillery's tall stills, to build a clean, waxy, grassy character. It was matured in refill ex-Bourbon oak, lending honey and vanilla. Beyond twenty years the malt grows deep and waxy, honey, soft fruit and a polished oak over green tea. The ultra clear wort from the mash filter is the source of the green, grassy character. Captain Hugh Munro built the distillery to give his tenants' barley a buyer. Almost all of its make is destined for blends rather than single malt. A hammer mill and mash filter, installed in 2000, replaced the traditional mash tun.

At a natural 55.7% it is full and oily. A fresh, oily grassiness meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. Beneath it run cut grass, citrus and a soft wax. It closes clean, grassy and waxy. This is a light, grassy Highland single malt.
