This is a Teaninich single malt, bottled by Elixir Distillers, aged 14 year old from 2007, drawn from cask 700145 and bottled at 56.6%. Teaninich, founded in 1817 by a Napoleonic veteran near the Cromarty Firth at Alness, is a key malt of Johnnie Walker. In 1887 it became the first distillery north of Inverness with electricity and a telephone.

Distilled on Highland spring water through fat copper stills, building the light Highland style blenders prize. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, the wood adding a light honeyed sweetness. By this age the green spirit rounds into orchard fruit and a waxy depth. The ultra clear wort from the mash filter is the source of the green, grassy character. By the 1970s Teaninich was already one of the largest distilleries in Scotland. The River Averon runs beside the distillery on its way to the firth. A long fermentation builds the fresh, green fruit the blenders prize.

At its natural 56.6% it is concentrated. A fresh, oily grassiness meet honeyed oak sweetness underneath. The texture is light and oily, the grass threaded with honey. A long, oily finish carries a green lift. This is a light, grassy Highland single malt.
