Dràm Mòr selected this Teaninich matured to 11 year old from 2014, drawn from cask 703720 and bottled at 56.1%. Only 286 bottles were released. Founded in 1817 by Captain Hugh Munro north of Inverness at Alness, Teaninich is a big Highland workhorse. The mash filter gives an ultra clear wort, the source of its fragrant, green tea grassiness.

It was drawn off fat copper stills fed by a uniquely clear wort, for a fragrant spirit with a green tea lift. A wine cask shaped it, the fruit meeting the green, oily spirit. Younger here, it keeps a clean, grassy freshness over a waxy texture. The cool Highland climate gives a slow, even maturation over the years. A hammer mill and mash filter, installed in 2000, replaced the traditional mash tun. That ultra clear wort is the source of Teaninich's fragrant, green tea grassiness. Teaninich Castle nearby, once the family seat, is now a hotel and restaurant.

At a full 56.1% it is intense yet fresh. The Port cask adds plum and red berry, and a gentle vanilla from the wood runs under a clean, green fruitiness. Soft orchard fruit and grass sit behind the sweetness. A grassy, gently spiced finish lingers. This is a fresh, oily Highland single malt.
