A Teaninich single malt, bottled by The Vintage Malt Whisky Co Ltd, an 11 year old from 2010, drawn from cask 707329 and bottled at 54%. A release of 300 bottles. Teaninich was first built in 1817 in the northern Highlands at Alness, and it has long been prized by blenders. It is the only Scotch malt distillery to mash through a mash filter rather than a mash tun.

The spirit was run from a clear wort through the distillery's tall stills, to build a clean, waxy, grassy character. Maturation came in ex-Bourbon wood, with vanilla under the grassy spirit. Still young, the malt is grassy and oily with a citrus lift. A clean wort and a long ferment build the fragrant, green tea note. Almost all of its make is destined for blends rather than single malt. A hammer mill and mash filter, installed in 2000, replaced the traditional mash tun. That ultra clear wort is the source of Teaninich's fragrant, green tea grassiness.

At a natural 54% it is full and oily. A fresh, oily grassiness meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. A green fruit and a gentle oak give it depth. Green tea and a soft wax see out the finish. This is a light, grassy Highland single malt.
