Teaninich 10 Years Old 2015 Cask #6745673 (Duncan Taylor)

A Teaninich single malt, bottled by Duncan Taylor matured to 10 year old from 2015, drawn from cask 6745673 and bottled at 53.2%. The outturn was 96 bottles. Teaninich was first built in 1817 in the northern Highlands at Alness, and it has long been prized by blenders. Fat copper stills add an oily texture to the clean, grassy spirit.

The spirit was run from a clear wort through the distillery's tall stills, to build a clean, waxy, grassy character. A sherry cask wrapped the light spirit in dried fruit and a nutty depth. At this age the spirit is fresh and green, cut grass and citrus to the fore. The light, oily make takes cask character well across maturation. A hammer mill and mash filter, installed in 2000, replaced the traditional mash tun. That ultra clear wort is the source of Teaninich's fragrant, green tea grassiness.

At its natural 53.2% it is concentrated. The Oloroso lends raisin, walnut and a dried fruit richness, and a fresh, oily grassiness meet soft vanilla and honey from the cask. The texture is light and oily, the grass threaded with honey. The finish is waxy, green and lively. This is a light, grassy Highland single malt.
